Once upon a time, in the flat delta land of Bangladesh, through which the Himalayan rivers flow, there lived a Supergirl who dreamt of going to the top of the world.

Nishat Mazumder was a happy, active girl. She loved to play outside and to climb things, even when some people said, 'A girl should stay out of the sun' or, 'A girl should not run too much.' But Nishat answered, 'A girl should be able to do everything!'

Nishat’s first expedition was to the peak of Keokradong, the highest point of Bangladesh. She enjoyed the hike so much that she wanted to continue climbing higher. Next, after months of training, she set out to explore the Himalayan Mountain Range. But her ultimate goal was the top of the world—the peak of Mount Everest.

The journey to the top of Everest was not easy. It took 40 days, during which Nishat and her team had to climb in extreme cold and snowfall. Every day, they faced many dangers and had several accidents along the way. Once, an avalanche swept Nishat away from her team, almost killing her. But she kept going, her eyes fixed on the summit.

On 19 May, 2012, Nishat Mazumder reached the peak of Everest, becoming the first woman to fly the Bangladesh flag on top of the world! Nishat continues to be a curious globe trekker and explorer; she is always ready to share her adventures and to inspire other girls and boys to aim high.
