The blue whale has the biggest heart of any animal.

A blue whale's heart can be as big as a small car. It pumps a huge amount of blood around its giant body.

A giraffe has the same number of neck bones as you — just seven.

Even with such a long neck, a giraffe has only seven neck bones, the same as people. Each bone is simply very big.

A woodpecker's tongue is so long it curls around its skull.

The long tongue helps reach bugs deep inside trees. When it is not in use, it tucks away inside the bird's head.

A frog uses its eyes to help it swallow food.

When a frog gulps, it pulls its eyeballs down into its head. This gently pushes the food down its throat.

An elephant uses its trunk like a hand to pick things up.

The trunk has no bones but thousands of muscles. An elephant can grab a whole log or a tiny peanut with it.

A cat's whiskers help it tell if it can fit through a gap.

Whiskers are about as wide as a cat's body. If the whiskers touch the sides, the cat knows the space is too small.

Owls can turn their heads almost all the way around.

An owl can twist its neck about three quarters of the way around to peek behind it. Extra bones in its neck make this possible.
